Meet the Coaches
Kenny Matthews
Head Varsity Coach
Coach Matthews is from Austin and played baseball while attending Bowie High School. After high school, he played baseball at Blinn College and then at Texas Tech University, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach before he graduated in 2011. Coach Matthews joined Anderson as the Head Coach for Baseball in 2017 and also teaches Social Studies. Prior to coaching at Anderson, he coached baseball at Cedar Creek High School. His favorite professional team is the Houston Astros and his favorite player is Nolan Ryan. Coach Matthews’ advice for the Trojan Baseball players is “Don’t ever doubt yourself, there are enough people doing that for you”. Coach Matthews is married to Stephanie, who teaches at Akins HS. They have a daughter, Peyton, who is 2 1/2 years old and a son, Duke, who is 8 months old. Besides spending time with his family, Coach Matthews enjoys history, golf and working on the baseball field at Anderson.
